KAKUM NATIONAL PARK CANOPY WALK
Enjoy an early morning scenic drive from Accra to the Central Region of Ghana, where you will visit Kakum National Park.
The main attraction is the canopy walkway, made up of seven bridges extending 330 meters and hanging 40 meters above the forest floor. This offers a breathtaking, bird’s-eye view of the rainforest.
While the park is home to some mammals, sightings are rare as they are known to be extremely elusive.
Activity: This tour includes a hike through the rainforest to reach the canopy walkway. Participants are advised to wear proper footwear, as the trail is considered strenuous.
ELMINA CASTLE
Next, participants will proceed to Elmina to visit this historic town. You will tour Elmina Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by the Portuguese in 1482.
The castle was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea, making it the oldest European building still standing in sub-Saharan Africa. Participants will have a unique opportunity to listen to the stories of the infamous transatlantic slave trade during a guided tour of the castle.
CAPE COAST CASTLE
We will end the day with a visit to Cape Coast Castle.
Built in 1664, Cape Coast Castle was one of over 40 slave castles and forts used as holding places for enslaved Africans awaiting shipment to the Americas.
You will join a 45-minute guided tour of the castle to witness and learn about the “horrors of the slave trade.” This powerful tour provides deep insight into the activities of the slave trade era and its devastating effects on communities, nations, and humanity as a whole.
