She started not to feel well during our trip and still gave us her best Winston G2025-06-29Verified Elmina and Cape Coast If you're looking to experience the deep-rooted history of Ghana in a single, transformative day, the Accra to Cape Coast and Elmina Day Tour with Frank Doe Travels is an unmissable journey. From start to finish, this tour delivers a powerful, immersive, and sobering education in Ghanaian history and the transatlantic slave trade, all facilitated by the knowledgeable and compassionate Makafui at Frank Doe Travels. deliciouslyso2025-06-02Verified Amazing Day Tour! Amazing tour and guide! Frank was truly exceptional! His attention to detail was amazing and answering all my questions in the way! Gave us details of the country outside of the 3 locations. He truly has a passion for tourism! Shanequa B2025-03-18Verified Amazing Experience This tour started super early but it was necessary! Our guide, Frank, was on time and engaging. He made sure we were good and took photos for our group. He also answered questions we had, even those unrelated to the tour! The trip to the Assin Manso Slave River was humbling. To experience it as well as be well educated about what occurred was very well received by myself and my friends. The tour guide for that portion of the trip was so good! Then we visited both the Elmina and Cape Coast dungeons. It was super emotional to learn of the atrocities my ancestors faced. What they endured was horrific and yet they were not broken. I am honored to have these connections to my roots. Please be aware at the time of this review the roads to the coast were basically non-existent so if you have motion sickness, be prepared! Otherwise, we highly recommend this tour!!! gabbyHartNews2025-03-13Verified Rushed, Reckless, and Not as Advertised: A Disappointing Tour "I have very mixed feelings about this tour. On one hand, the historical significance of the Slave River and Cape Coast Castle was profoundly moving, and the local guides at these sites were excellent. However, the experience was significantly marred by several issues. Two months prior, I booked a private tour for myself and a companion to celebrate my birthday. The day before, Frank contacted me asking if we’d be willing to share our tour and van with three additional American tourists due to "vehicle trouble." While I initially expressed my preference for the private tour I booked, I was assured it would be "taken care of."Unfortunately, the reality was far from what I expected. Instead of Frank, we were picked up by another driver who, regrettably, drove in a manner that was both reckless and alarming. The five-hour journey was filled with high-speed driving, aggressive lane changes, and squeezing between large trucks, making it an incredibly stressful and uncomfortable experience. I felt unwell halfway through. The driver also seemed rushed and pushy, which further detracted from the experience. The driver also was held up at a police checkpoint for 30-minutes because he didn’t have a license on him, and started driving even crazier to make up the time. Upon arrival, we discovered that Frank was indeed driving the other three tourists, who were still included in our tour group, contrary to my understanding of a private booking. This was particularly disappointing as I had booked a private tour well in advance. The tour castle itself felt rushed, further adding to our dissatisfaction. While the historical sites and their local guides were commendable, the overall experience was significantly impacted by the unsafe driving, the lack of a private tour as booked, and the feeling of being rushed. I booked a private experience for my birthday, and that is not what I received. While I understand vehicle issues may arise, the solution felt poorly executed and ultimately diminished the quality of the tour. I hope future bookings are handled with more clarity and consideration for the customer's initial reservation. Greg L2025-02-15Verified Excellent tour and Guide. We spent 5 days with Frank. He is a seasoned tour guide with flexibility. We did Elmira Castle, the coast, the national park, and more. He is very knowledgeable on all aspects of Ghana. The whole experience was excellent. Rasak A2025-02-05Verified Uncompromising excellent service My Tour guide was excellent, courteous and knowledgeable. Well mannered would be an understatement. People like him, make you want to comeback to Ghana sooner than you thought. George C2025-01-09Verified Thoroughly recommended, must do. We were taken to the Karkum National Park Canopy Walk, a private tour of Elmina Castle and had lunch and some chill time at Coconut Grove Beach Resort. Nii Laaye hosted us throughout, Nii was uplifting and very informative throughout. We had a guide at the Canopy Walk and Elmina Castle, they added a lot of extra knowledge. Fred at Elmina was exceptional, one of the most knowledgeable and informative guides I’ve had anywhere where in the world. Fred is a brilliant communicator and helped us understand Elmina in manner entirely appropriate to the site and its grave history. The mix of the beautiful but challenging Canopy Walk with the compelling, brutal and barbaric history of Elmina Castle. Followed by good food and time to decompress at the beach, along with Nii’s uplifting approach, made for a great tour. One of the bests of done anywhere.Word of warning, the minibus driver is fast and very Ghanaian in style. It feels a bit scary to those not used to it. Exploration3968252025-01-06Verified Learn Africa History This is a MUST tour to understand Africa and African American history. Not only do you see the sights, but a personal tour guide. Frank Doe my tour guide was excellent. He gave really good history lessons, friendly and knowledgeable. grongey2024-12-18Verified Highly recommend Our guide’s name was Foster. He really was so willing to arrange the tour around what were “must sees” for us. Is was a perfect combination of the historical highlights of Ghana from ancient times to the present and just fun sites like going to see the coffin makers. Definitely recommend. A informative and fun day. Thank you Frank and Foster!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Mohamedy Lamine Coulibly2025-07-13Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bien sûr ! Voici la version en anglais du message : --- We had the pleasure of having Frank as our guide for over three days, and it was truly an amazing experience! Always kind, friendly, and full of energy, Frank made our trip unforgettable. We utilized Frank's services via Viator for a full day tour to the castles and Kakum National forest. It was a great day and Frank and his driver took care of us. We also used his services for a half day city tour. While things didn't run as smoothly as our first tour, Frank still sowed us around and had lots of patience. I recommend highly if visiting Ghana. K Rock2024-07-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was a very enjoyable tour. David was our tour guide and we felt very well taken care of and very well informed. He made sure to answer all of our questions and included so much extra information along the way that was not specifically part of the tour. I think the Cocoa Farm was my favorite part, but Aburi Gardens are absolutely beautiful and awe inspiring. I highly recommended this tour. Just a great way to spend a day. Got to see everything and was very accommodating if you wanted to linger or buy something. It was almost like a friend showing you around his city.
