NATIONAL MUSEUM OF GHANA
We will begin our journey at the National Museum of Ghana, the largest and oldest of the six museums overseen by the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board.
This iconic institution houses a rich collection of archaeological, ethnographic, and fine art artifacts, ranging from the Stone Age to the recent past. Visitors will explore indigenous Ghanaian musical instruments, beads, traditional textiles, pottery, furniture, and ceremonial costumes — each piece telling a unique story of Ghana’s cultural evolution.
MAKOLA MARKET EXPERIENCE
Next, we head to the bustling Makola Market, a vibrant hub of trade and culture in Accra. This stop offers participants an immersive “Day in the Life” experience with Ghanaian market women and local traders.
Here, you’ll find a variety of goods ranging from textiles and clothing to spices and fresh produce, capturing the heartbeat of local commerce.
JAMESTOWN HERITAGE TOUR
Our exploration continues to Jamestown, one of Accra’s oldest and most vibrant neighborhoods. Discover Ghana’s capital through a guided drive featuring a unique blend of medieval and modern architecture.
We’ll visit James and Ussher towns, historic areas that trace the footsteps of British settlers from 1877. Your guide will highlight significant landmarks and share their historical and cultural impact on Accra’s development and Ghana’s national identity.
KWAME NKRUMAH MEMORIAL PARK
Our next stop is the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the final resting place of Ghana’s first President and a founding father of the African Union.
Inaugurated in 1992, the mausoleum sits on the former British colonial polo grounds, symbolizing Ghana’s transformation from colony to independence. This site offers a deep reflection on Ghana’s journey to sovereignty.RTS CENTRE & BLACK STAR SQUARE
We’ll conclude the day at the Arts Centre with a lively Akwaaba (Welcome) drumming session, followed by a memorable photo opportunity at Black Star Square, one of Ghana’s most iconic landmarks.
