DAY 1: ACCRA – TAFI ATOME, WLI WATERFALLS & AFADJATO

Begin your Volta adventure with a visit to the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, a sacred grove that has been home to the Mona Monkeys for over 200 years. These playful, sacred monkeys live in harmony with the villagers, protected as messengers of the gods. Watch them roam freely in the tropical forest, a space also teeming with colorful birds and butterflies.

Next, fuel your adventurous spirit with a hike up Mount Afadja (Afadjato), the highest mountain in Ghana, standing at 885 meters. Located near the Togo border, this climb offers stunning panoramic views of the lush Volta landscape and the surrounding Agumatsa Range.

After your mountain trek, head to Wli Village to explore the breathtaking Wli Waterfalls, the tallest in West Africa. Trek through the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, crossing 9 scenic streams along a lush forest trail. Keep your eyes open for fruit bats, birds, and monkeys as you make your way to the base of this spectacular three-tiered waterfall. Take a refreshing dip in the cool cascading waters before heading to your lodge for the night.

DAY 2: AMEDZOFE – MOUNT GEMI – OTE FALLS – ACCRA

Start your day with a drive to Amedzofe, the highest inhabited settlement in Ghana, nestled 677 meters above sea level. Once a colonial retreat for German missionaries, this serene mountain town offers stunning views and crisp fresh air.

Lace up your hiking boots for an invigorating morning climb to the summit of Mount Gemi, Ghana’s fifth highest peak. At the top, take in sweeping views of the Volta Highlands and the peaceful surrounding communities.

Wrap up your Volta escape with a visit to Ote Falls, where you’ll enjoy a scenic canopy walk offering a breathtaking aerial view of the falls and surrounding forest, an unforgettable experience in the heart of nature.

Return to Accra in the late afternoon.
